The Otolaryngology Centre

The Otolaryngology Unit at the Caucasus Medical Centre provides comprehensive 24-hour outpatient services. The Department is staffed by a team of highly qualified doctors and is equipped with all the material and technical resources necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of ENT conditions.

 

The following examinations are implemented in the Department:

  • Audiometry - testing of hearing acuity;
  • Rhinomanometry - evaluation the respiratory function of the nose;
  • Endoscopic examination of the nasopharynx and larynx;

 

In accordance with international guidelines and standards, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology offers treatment for the following pathologies:
 

  • Acute and chronic tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils);
  • Acute and chronic pharyngitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the throat);
  • Acute and chronic laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx);
  • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx);
  • Hypertrophic rhinitis (permanent hypertrophy of the nasal sinuses); 
  • Deviated nasal septum;
  • Nasal polyposis;
  • Acute and chronic sinusitis;
  • Acute and chronic inflammation of the middle-ear;
  • Acute inflammation of the outer ear;
  • Otomycosis (fungal infection of the ear);
  • Stopping nosebleeds with modern endoscopic and coagulation techniques;
  • Hearing loss.

 

Treating any pathology in the early stages can significantly improve the outcome. That is why it is important to acknowledge the significance of conducting a preventive examination of the patient 2 times a year from the age of 3 years, and in case of pathology - once a week. In addition, it is imperative to be acquainted with the symptoms that necessitate consultation with a physician:

 

  • Difficulty breathing through the nose;
  • Discharge from the nose;
  • Passage of the discharge from the nose to the nasopharynx;
  • Pain in the forehead and face;
  • Sore throat;
  • Dry throat;
  • Cough;
  • Change in tone of voice;
  • Difficulty breathing from the throat;
  • Hearing loss;
  • Subjective sensation of ringing in the ears;
  • Ear pain;
  • Discharge from the ear.
