Biography

Marika Toidze graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State Medical University. To further enhance her qualifications, she continued her medical practice at the Internal Medicine and Cardiology Departments of the University Hospital of Milan. Marika also spent time in the United States, where she passed the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) and continued her professional career at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Columbia University. During this period, she also participated in scientific research on Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Marika Toidze has 30 years of experience in the medical field. Currently, she holds the positions of Director of the Clinical Research Management Department and Head of the Rheumatology Center at Caucasus Medical Center. She is also a professor at David Tvildiani Medical University and continues her academic career.

 

She previously served as the Medical Director of the PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) program accredited by the College of Emergency Physicians of Georgia for the South Caucasus region. At present, she is the Medical Director of the FCCS (Fundamental Critical Care Support) course accredited by the American Society of Anesthesiologists in Georgia.

 

Marika is the author of several scientific papers and accredited programs related to continuous medical education for physicians. She led the editorial board for the first licensed Georgian translation of the Massachusetts General Hospital's Handbook of Internal Medicine, published by "Georgia's Messenger."

 

Currently, Marika is a member of the State Expert Corps for Educational Quality Assurance and holds medical licenses in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology while actively continuing her clinical practice. She participates in continuing medical education (CME) programs in the United States and international professional conferences. Additionally, she organizes international conferences focused on the development of primary healthcare in Georgia.

 

Marika Toidze is the founder and president of the Georgian Association of Primary Healthcare Professionals. Under the association’s auspices, she implements both local and international healthcare projects.
