After graduating from Tbilisi State Medical University (1989-1995), he continued his professional development in the field of neurosurgery at the P. Sarajishvili Neurology and Neurosurgery Scientific-Research Institute (1995-1996) and at the Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute in Moscow (1996-2002). At the same institute, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree for his work on the surgical treatment of skull-base tumors (2002).
For professional development, he completed training at leading global clinics: Mayo Clinic (Pediatric Neurosurgery, Epilepsy Surgery), National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London (Spinal Surgery), Charité Clinic in Berlin (Vascular Neurosurgery), Federico II University Hospital in Naples (Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Surgery), and Tübingen University Hospital (Skull-Base Surgery).
Lado Tsikharishvili has many years of experience in the medical field. Currently, he is the Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Caucasus Medical Center.
He is also a member of the Georgian Neurosurgeons Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS), and the European Section of the Spinal Scientific Society (AOSpine).
In 2009, under his editorship, the Georgian-language adaptation of the clinical guideline for the management of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages, developed by the American Heart and Stroke Associations, was published. He has published more than 30 scientific papers and is the author of two monographs.
