Caucasus Medical Center (CMC) has achieved the Gold Seal of Approval from the world’s leading healthcare accreditation body and has become the first JCI-accredited multi-profile referral hospital in the country.

As part of its accreditation journey, the hospital underwent an 18-month intensive preparation process, during which it implemented nearly 1,200 standards in alignment with the Joint Commission International’s (JCI) Global Patient Safety Goals. JCI experts conducted a comprehensive evaluation across several key areas, including: patient care and safety in outpatient, emergency, and inpatient services; quality and effectiveness of treatment; infection prevention and control mechanisms; nursing care; safe medication management policies; strategic leadership and quality culture; medical staff competence; continuous education and development; protection of patient and family rights and confidentiality; creation of a safe hospital environment; reliability, accuracy, and safety of diagnostic technologies; hospital infrastructure; and continuous improvement of medical services.

According to the JCI accreditation commission, the hospital fully meets the highest standards of medical service and aligns with international patient safety goals.

By obtaining this recognition, Caucasus Medical Center joins the global network of JCI-accredited hospitals, which includes the world’s leading medical institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Acibadem, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.

“This accreditation is the result of the dedication and hard work of our multidisciplinary teams. Our unwavering focus is to provide patients with high-quality medical care. The recognition by the world’s most respected international accreditation body further strengthens our position as a regional healthcare leader. We are continuously committed to delivering internationally recognized healthcare services in Georgia and improving the quality and safety of patient care. Receiving this highest-level international accreditation is a nationally significant milestone. We are proud and honored that Caucasus Medical Center contributes to the development of Georgia’s healthcare system,” said Sopho Aspanidze, Director of Caucasus Medical Center.

Considering the growing demand for healthcare services in the South Caucasus region, the JCI accreditation — widely recognized as the global gold standard in healthcare — opens up new opportunities for the development of medical tourism. A significant number of clinical travelers choose JCI-accredited hospitals, which enhances the international image of a country’s healthcare system. Accordingly, the international recognition of Caucasus Medical Center strengthens the country’s position within the medical tourism industry.
