Aleksandre Lagvilava completed his residency in Georgia at the N. Kipshidze University Clinic and remained at the clinic (general surgery faculty) afterwards. He has participated in and run masterclasses in Germany, Portugal and Ukraine. Lagvilava was the Minister of Healthcare and Social Affairs of Abkhazia (2009-2012). Since 2012, he has been the Head of the Surgery Department of the National Center of Surgery. Since April 2018, he has been the Head of the General Surgery Department of the Regional Hospital.
