Iago Tsertsvadze Becomes Penumbra Certified Mechanical Thrombectomy Trainer
Iago Tsertsvadze, a neurosurgeon of the West Georgia Medical Center and a member of the Board of Medical Experts for Neurology-Neurosurgery of the Evex Hospital Network, has become a Penumbra certified trainer of mechanical thrombectomy. He obtained a qualification at the International Seminar on Acute Ischemic Stroke Management and Endovascular Treatment, during which the West Georgia Medical Center was awarded the status of an International Stroke Management Training Center by the global healthcare organization Penumbra.

The seminar was led by foreign and Georgian specialists, including neurosurgeon Iago Tsertsvadze and neurologist Tamar Janelidze. Onur Yilmaz, a neuro-interventionist at the Istanbul University Training and Research Hospital, and David Hernandez, a neuro-interventionist at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital joined the meeting remotely. In addition to theoretical training, the seminar also included a practical course. Thrombocytopenia manipulation was performed online on an anatomical model.

With the status of the International Stroke Management Training Center, the West Georgia Medical Center plans to organize international seminars for Georgian and foreign colleagues, which will provide practical (hands-on workshop) and theoretical courses. From the Georgian side, the seminars will be led by neurosurgeon Iago Tsertsvadze and neurologist Tamar Janelidze.
