Zaza Katsarava

Zaza Katsarava
Zaza Katsarava graduated from Tbilisi State Medical Institute. His training includes a residency in neurology. At the Beritashvili Institute of Physiology, he studied the pathophysiology of stroke in rats and successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis. Then, he continued education in Germany within a framework of a scholarship program of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and completed his residency training in neurology at the University of Essen. Zaza Katsarava served as a senior specialist in the Department of Neurology at the same university and defended his doctoral dissertation. At the same time, he received his Master's degree of Harvard University in the field of Clinical Epidemiology. He also completed a course in maintaining the quality of medical care at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a medical management program at the MIBEG Institute in Cologne.

Zaza Katsarava, MD and professor, currently heads the Department of Neurology, Geriatrics, Neurological and Neurosurgical Rehabilitation at Christian Hospital Unna, Germany. He is also a Professor of Neurology at the University of Essen. More than two hundred scientific works and publications are associated with his name.

Zaza Katsarava is a President of the European Headache Federation, a board member of the Georgian National Headache Association and a member of the Georgian Association of Neuromuscular Diseases and Electromyography. He is also a visiting professor at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and Tbilisi State Medical University.

A Georgian doctor working in Germany heads the neurology department of the Evex hospitals. He also chairs the Board of Experts for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
